Are you always running errands for family and friends, and just need a break?  Would you like to meet new or old friends?  Do you like tea?  If you have said yes to any of these questions, you should join us for our monthly Tea Party.  Each month one of our volunteers becomes the "hostess" extraordinaire.  So each Tea Party is new and different.  We invite you and your feiends to join us for a spot of tea, a goody or two, and much more. 

SENIOR EXPO

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28TH
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Join us for our annual SENIOR EXPO!  The expo focuses on all aspects of older life.  It's a wonderful resource opportunity for baby boomers, seniors, caregivers, and the families of seniors.   As you stroll down the hallway speak to professionals from the banking, housing, health,, service, social/recreational, service communities.

Mon Health will be available to administer flu and first-time pneumonia shots.  Be sure to bring your Medicare or insurance card.
Once you have talked to the different vendors, play a few games of Fun Bingo.  Bring a small item with the value of at least $1 to be used as a bingo prize.  Fun Bingo will be played from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.  Bingo is open to everyone 18 years of age or older.

Road Bond Presentation

On the upcoming elections' ballot, people will have the opportunity to approve or reject the proposed Road Bond.  Senator Bob Beach will host a presentation giving an overview of the Road Bond.  Topics covered will include: what the bond's purpose is, where will the money be allocated, and how will it affect residents of Monongalia County.  Questions are welcome.

Lap Dulcimer Class

Tuesdays
9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

We would like to welcome and introduce our newest group class, Lap Dulcimer Class.  This is a free class for older adults interested in expanding their musical skills.  The lap dulcimer has been popular for decades in traditional, folk, and country music.  Judy Werner is the instructor.  This class is open to new students.

Those who have never played a dulcimer are invited to a special session on Tuesday, September 20th at 10:00 a.m.  Cardboard dulcimers will be available.  


Volunteer Meetings

2nd Tuesday of the Month
10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

This meeting gives the volunteers and the Volunteer Coordinator, Vicki, a chance to review recent events or activities, plan and prepare for upcoming events or fundraisers, and take care of other business.  Meeting length depends on what will be covered.  Volunteers assist in our kitchen, decorating the center, planning & executing of festive luncheons, general clerical duties, as well as other things.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer contact Vicki at 304-296-9812.

Thursday Mornings
10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Join us every Tuesday morning for our
Vital Signs Clinic.  During this clinic, you will be able to have your blood pressure, pulse, and weight monitored by a registered nurse.  These numbers can be logged and given to your doctor to give them a
better view of your on going health.  This service is FREE to seniors.   


Intermediate/Advanced Line Dancing

 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Get into the groove during our Line Dancing class.  Bill Duff is the dance instructor.  He will teach a variety of traditional and modern line dances.  This group is open to dancers of all abilities.  This class is where you can have fun and get a great workout.

Fun Bingo

10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

If you are looking for an opportunity to meet new & old friends, or you just like to play games, our Fun Bingo may be just what your looking for.  Each good bingo will win a prize.  The last game is a 50/50 cash game.

We ask that you bring a small gift with a value of $1.  Some examples of prizes are tissues, hand soap, personal care items, etc.  No food items please.

Fun Bingo is a free event for older adults.

Dominoes

12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Dominoes is a game of matching tiles.  You'll use strategy to place all of your tiles and win the game.  Our Dominoes Group is always looking for people to join in the game.
