Information Regarding Morgantown’s Home-Delivered Meal Programs

The Morgantown area has two home-delivered meal programs, Meals On Wheels and Senior Monongalians, Inc.

To be eligible for the Meals On Wheels program, one must be either disabled or elderly AND home bound.  A hot meal is delivered daily, Monday through Friday.  For additional information, call the kitchen (304-599-1954) between the hours of 7:00AM and 12:00PM.  Participants of this program are asked to pay a nominal fee based on ability to pay.

Senior Monongalians, Inc. delivers a hot meal daily, Monday through Friday.  Friday’s delivery also includes two frozen meals--one for Saturday and one for Sunday.  To be eligible for this program, a person must be 60 years of age or older, AND either homebound OR living alone and physically or mentally unable to obtain food and prepare meals.  The spouse of a participant (regardless of age) is also eligible if receipt of the meal is determined to be in the best interest of the participant.  A disabled person (regardless of age) who resides at the home of a participant is also eligible for home delivered meals.  (This person does not need to be related to the participant.)  The cost for each meal is a suggested donation based on monthly income.  The suggested contribution for someone with a monthly income of $600.00 is $1.75 for each meal; the suggested contribution for someone with a monthly income of $1,201.00, or more, is $4.75 for each meal.  Meal delivery typically begins after a home assessment is completed although allowances are made for anyone in need of immediate help.  Follow-up evaluations usually occur within six to twelve months, unless the participant decides before then that the service is no longer needed.  Call 304-296-9812 with additional questions or concerns.
