AARP Free Tax Preparation Available

 

Trained AARP volunteers will be available from February 1st until April 15th to assist seniors in preparing their tax returns.  Returns will be electronically filed for a faster return.

 

Items that you will need to bring with you include:

v    Last year’s tax return

v    All W2s for 2009 and/or proof of any other income

v    Receipt of paid property tax (if you own property)

v    Photo id

March Events
 

9 – Social Security Presentation: 10:30 a.m.

Learn about what’s new at the Social Security Administration.  Angela will also discuss the variety of services available to older adults.

 

12 – H1N1 Flu Shot Clinic: 8:00 a.m. to noon

Flu season is not over quite yet.  Make sure you are covered by getting a H1N1 flu shot.  Health insurances that cover the regular seasonal flu shot will cover the cost of the H1N1 flu shot.

 

13 – Daylight Savings Time Begins

Remember to set your clocks ahead one hour.

 

16 – Investing for Retirement: 10:30 a.m.

Anthony from Edward Jones will discuss things to keep in mind when preparing for retirement.

 

17 – St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon: 10:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Celebrate everything connected to the Emerald Isle during our annual St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon.  The Senior Shufflers will entertain you with their line dancing fun at 10:45 a.m. and then sit down to a delicious lunch.

 

18 – Colorectal Cancer Presentation: 11:00 a.m.

WVU School of Pharmacy students will discuss important facts about colorectal cancer. 
They will cover symptoms and types of screenings and treatments available.

 

30 – What You Need to Know about Banking

A representative from Centra Bank will talk about a wide variety of banking topics that affect older adults.

Spring Fling Dance
Sunday, April 25th
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Spend an afternoon dancing to your favorite oldies music and having fun with your friends.  Our Spring Fling Dance will feature Morgantown's favorite party oldies band, the Knight Hawks.  You will also enjoy a light lunch, and chances at winning a variety of prizes and raffles.  

Tickets are $8 per person.  Purchase your tickets at the front desk of Senior Monongalians in the Mountaineer Mall.  Prosceeds from the dance and any raffles will benefit the programs and services sponsored by Senior Monongalians.
