Senior Monongalians, Inc. is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Info: 296-9812.  Lunch is served 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday at the nutrition site. 

 

Senior Monongalians, Inc., Monongalia County’s one-stop-shop for seniors and their families.  A social services support agency offering services such as: a Veteran’s Administration approved adult life center, respite care, caregiver support groups, free vital signs clinics and a Nutrition Program offered throughout Mon County.  SHIP counselors are available to answer questions regarding hospital bills and insurance payments.  The Community Care Program provides in-home personal care, via VA, private pay, or sliding fee, to homebound seniors.  For information regarding services or programs, call 296-9812.

A caregiver support group meets from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the third Wednesday of each month at the senior center.  All caregivers invited.  Info: Sue at 296-9812.

 

There are openings in the Adult Day Services Center at Senior Monongalians, Inc.  Open Monday-Friday.  This program provides a cost-effective, flexible and convenient alternative to nursing home placement.  The L. June Morgan Adult Day Services Program is VA certified for veterans.   Info: 296-9812.

 

The String of Pearls is a chorus-line dance troupe that believes you can still kick it up at any age.  If you would like the String of Pearls to perform at your function or party, call Donna at 599-4286.

Active for Life Exercise Program – This is a very low impact exercise program that can be done standing or sitting.  This class is conducted Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.  A doctor’s release is required before beginning the program.

Nondenominational Bible Study – Each week local clergy members discuss a variety of Bible topics.

Free Fun Bingo – Join in the fun and see if you can bingo first.  Donations of small individually wrapped gifts are welcome and appreciated.

Free Vital Signs Clinic - Monitor your health by having your blood pressure, pulse, and weight levels checked by our registered nurse.

Smart Cooking Class – Belinda Owens from the County Extension Office will teach you how to make healthy choices in your nutrition.  She will also demonstrate how to prepare delicious and nutritious entrée. This 6-week class is free to baby boomers and seniors.

Hospice Care Basics & Bingo – Learn about a variety of medical topics while playing a few games of bingo with Debbie from Hospice Care.

Social Bridge – The ladies of social bridge will be happy to deal you in to a fun game of social bridge, rook, or other card games.

Planning for Nursing Home & In-Home Care – Attorney Brent VanDeysen will discuss how to legally protect your assets before a transition into a nursing home or in-home care is required.  Please bring your questions.

 

 

2008 Chartered Bus Trips

 

**Wednesday, June 11th

Wheeling Island – Wheeling Island Race Track & Casino features greyhound racing, table games, and video slot machines.  The price of this chartered bus trip is $20 per person.

 

**August 31st – September 6th

Branson, Missouri – Travel to the live music capital of the world, Branson Missouri with Senior Monongalians.  This 6 day, 7 night chartered bus tour includes 10 meals, and multiple shows.  The cost of this chartered bus trip is $595 per person based on double occupancy.

 

**September 15th-18th

Biltmore Estates & Ashville, NC – Visit one of America’s castles, the Biltmore Estates, and other historic sites
