Volunteer Opportunities

Senior Monongalians highly values our volunteers!  As a nonprofit agency we would not be able to meet our goals without the hard work and dedication of volunteers.  Not only does volunteering help our agency, it instills a sense of pride, community, and well-being.

Senior Monongalians holds a volunteer meeting once a month, generally on the second Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.  We welcome you to join us for these meetings to see what our volunteers have planned.  Check the date of our next volunteer meeting on our Events & Activities page..

If you are interested in assisting us in any of the positions listed below, or if you have additional skills that would be of service, please stop by the front desk of Senior Monongalians or email Volunteer Coordinator, Vicki Lewis, at vlong@seniormons.org.  To become a volunteer you'll:

  • Fill out a volunteer application & have an interview
  • Review and sign our Volunteer Policy
  • Complete volunteer training session
    • Please bring photo identification and food handler's card (if applicable)

Fun Bingo Assistant

Senior Monongalians holds a Fun Bingo twice a week, Monday
and Thursday from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.  Below is a list of duties you may be asked to performs:
  • set out bingo cards, marking chips, prizes, and other items
  • assist those that have trouble seeing their cards 
  • when someone bingos, you will call back the numbers to the bingo caller
  • distribute prizes
  • help clean up and store bingo items, after bingo                                                                                              

Library Assistant

This person would organize and maintain the library book shelves.  Duties can be done once a week.

Kitchen Helper

Our Kitchen prepares meals for our on-site lunch program as well as the Home Delivered Meals programs.  Volunteers assisting in the kitchen are required to have a current Food Handler's Card.  Duties could include but are not limited to:
  • wrapping silverware
  • prep work
  • assembling meals for the Home Delivered Meals program
  • washing dishes
  • preparing trays for the on-site lunch
  • general clean   

Event Assistant

Each month, Senior Monongalians holds a festive luncheon.  They usually feature entertainment, a delicious meal, and door prizes.  Duties that the volunteer will be asked to perform include:
  • taking pictures of the event and the people attending the event
  • distributing door prizes
  • set up and then clean up
  • and more
